Monica Alikoviene is a contemporary artist with a deep passion for oil painting. She paints primarily on canvas panels for their sturdy surfaces, which enable her to work intuitively—reworking, scratching, and sometimes even sanding back the layers of paint as her vision takes shape. Monica builds these layers meticulously, seeking to capture the emotions and ideas she holds in her mind.
Lately, Monica has embraced brighter colours in her work, pushing herself beyond her comfort zone. For her, these bold, mostly red hues represent a sense of optimism and energy.
Monica is currently exhibiting her work in various exhibitions, with her latest collection on display at the CDS Autumn Exhibition, Cambridge and as a Finalist of the Art Unlimited International Competition at The Malthouse Gallery, Lyme Regis, Dorset. Alongside her own practice, she is actively engaged in the art community as the Cambridge Drawing Society Exhibitions Secretary Shadow, learning the nuances of curation and exhibition management.
Working from her home studio, Monica explores many subjects, including still-life and animal/figurative works. Her paintings are held in private collections across the UK and internationally.
