Monica Alikoviene is a Cambridge-based artist whose work reflects an emotional connection to moments of stillness, memory, and the unspoken narratives of everyday life. A self-taught painter, Monica approaches her craft with curiosity and resilience, embracing challenges as opportunities to learn.
Using oils, she employs an indirect painting method, building up transparent layers to create depth and quiet luminosity. She hopes her paintings offer a quiet moment of connection, where the viewer feels the emotions she experienced while creating them.
Monica is an active member of the Cambridge Drawing Society and regularly exhibits in their biannual shows. In 2024, her work won the Public Favourite Award at their Spring Exhibition. That same year, she was a finalist at the Art Unlimited International Competition at The Malthouse Gallery, Lyme Regis. Her paintings are held in private collections across Europe and the United States, reflecting her growing recognition among collectors.
Currently, Monica’s paintings are featured in the Range Exhibition in Cambridge. Through these works, she explores the emotional resonance of everyday objects, focusing on their interplay with light and shadow. She enjoys sharing her artistic journey through exhibitions, live demonstrations, and one-on-one interactions with collectors, where she explores the inspirations behind her work and fosters deeper connections with her audience.
